Cloud Solutions Architect

Edda International is recruiting experienced IT and digital professionals for assignments supporting European Commission projects in Brussels and Luxembourg. The position is delivered by Edda International under a service contract; the successful candidate will work with European Commission teams but will not be employed directly by the European Commission. The precise location and working arrangements will depend on the assignment.

The role

You will shape secure cloud solutions aligned with business objectives and European institutional standards. The role spans architecture, migration, governance and operations, with a focus on resilience and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Design end-to-end cloud and hybrid architectures, including landing zones, networking, identity, security and environment structures.
• Define measurable targets for availability, performance and recovery, with clear ownership boundaries.
• Plan and support cloud migrations, including dependency analysis, data migration and detailed execution runbooks.
• Establish guardrails for policies, tagging, role-based access, encryption and regulatory compliance.
• Automate provisioning and operations through Infrastructure as Code, scripting and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement monitoring, incident response and disaster recovery, and apply FinOps practices to optimise cloud costs.

Expertise

Strong knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, OVHcloud or another major provider; Docker and Kubernetes; Terraform, CloudFormation or Bicep; and Python, Bash or PowerShell. Experience with DevSecOps, networking and security frameworks such as ISO 27001, CIS and GDPR.

What you bring

A solution-oriented architect able to evaluate options and communicate recommendations clearly. An Associate-level or higher certification is required; Professional and Specialty certifications are expected for senior assignments.

Languages

Strong written and spoken English is required. French is an additional asset. The assignment requires effective collaboration in an international and multicultural environment.
